I would like to thank all the students that I have worked with at various honor band clinics and band camps here in South Carolina for their time and hard work. A very large part of my research used for this web site and in writing the "Rhythm Masters" book series is a result of my opportunity to work with these wonderful young musicians. "Rhythm Masters", although designed as an ensemble method, is equally effective for self study or for private lessons. So, if you feel counting rhythms is your big weakness, you might want to "check it out". The books can be taylored to suit your personal needs. You can use the cumulative counting system presently written in the books, which I find highly effective and easy to learn, or you and your band director or private teacher can help you construct your own personal approach to counting, which ever works best for you. With just occassional help, and short amounts of daily practice, you can fill the "gaps" of those rhythms you did not learn the first time around. It will help you improve your phonetic rhythm reading skills, as well as expand and enhance your sight rhythm reading vocabulary. Also, if you want to try the cumulative approach, it is easy to self-learn this system, but feel free to contact me at [email protected] if you have any questions or problems.
